Setted up this cutting of Skywalker. Having some initial problems with air and humidity. Hopefully is going to rain soon so humidity will rise a bit. Planning to do some LST and ScrOG. Day 36 - It's week 5 already! The canopy is really gaining height day by day. Tied some more side branches down and adjusted the tie down on the main branch. Day 37 - Trying to figure out the correct watering amount. 1.5L was too much today will lower tomorrow to 1.2L. Day 38 - Plant is looking good today. Adjusted the tie downs on some branches. Watered with 1.3L and run off was still around 350ml so lowering tomorrow to 1.2L. Day 39 - Watering with 1.2L today. There was still no run off, I'm putting this down to the increased fan speeds, longer open tent periods and the plant growing more vegetation. My 2L watering can should arrive today, so I will be able to mix nutrients in one reservoir and water more accurately. Removed 3 of the bottom most fan leaves which had a branch large enough to support itself. Day 40 - Watered with 1.5L today. Removed 1 fan leaf and tied down a side branch. Run off was around 100ml. I also set the fan speed back to 1, as I think 2 was too strong for the plant and dehydration levels of the soil. Day 41 - Watered with 1.6L today. Run off of 400ml (25%). Getting pretty bushy now almost stretching to all sides of the tent. Day 42 - Watered with 1.4L today. Run off was 150ml (10%). She's now 32cm tall with the light hanging 36cm above the highest tips. That brings us to the end of Week 6. It looks like we are a day or two away from starting to flower properly. Bring on Week 7!

During week 9 the flowering continued nicely and all plants developed nice flower crowns. Unfortunately I spotted some brown pistils on some plants and at this stage that only can mean they have been inseminated by pollen. Since I have no male plants around I thoroughly inspect the nodes of all plants from bottom to top. I am searching for hidden male pollen-sacks that have grown on my female plants and sure enough I find several ripe and open pollen sacks on three plants. This means those plants ARE HERMAPHRODITES, plants that have BOTH SEXES, they are female plants that also grow male pollensacks...my ABSOLUTE HORROR! The open pollen sacks have released pollen onto the female pistils around them and this turned the pistils brown. Where those fertilized pistils are, seeds will now start to grow inside the buds of my grow. 😢 After spraying water over the plants, in order to neutralize the free pollen inside, I carefully cut off the hermie-plants on the main stem right above the soil and immediately discard them far away from my grow-tent into the trash. Since I spotted the hermies early, I hope my grow will not be fully seeded, but only have a few seeds grow in some buds here and there. My fingers are crossed! My 'CHEESE'-plant from BIG BUDDHA SEEDS has turned a little yellow and developed some dark spots on the leaves, which I attribute to the plant standing alone in a tray now. She seems to be overfed a little and getting too much water to the roots. I therefore take her out of the water for a few days, in order to let the medium dry out a little and let the roots get some air. The SANlight EVO4-120 LED-lights work like a treat. They are now running at 100% dimm-level and are hung 30 cm above the top of the plants. The BIO NOVA nutrients are still given at half strength of the recommended dose and some plants seem to be overfed...I have to keep an eye on them.

Both plants were ultimately harvested with respect and gratitude. ⸻ ✂️ Harvest & Trimming After about two weeks of slow drying at 60°F / 60% RH, the branches began to snap — a sure sign the moisture was just right. Each plant was trimmed by hand, carefully and patiently, letting every calyx, pistil, and trichome tell its own story. The buds were dense, sticky, and heavily frosted — a trimmer’s delight. Finger hash collected along the way was pure gold, rich in aroma and bursting with terpenes. Each snip of the scissors felt like sculpting something sacred. Both plants were dried whole, allowing for slower moisture migration and a smoother final cure. ⸻ 🌿 On Trichomes and Harvest Timing We chose to harvest when most trichomes were cloudy, with only a few still clear and very few amber. This moment — just before full amber maturity — is where potency meets flavor at its peak. Why cloudy trichomes? Because that’s when cannabinoids like THC and terpenes are at their maximum activity. Too early, and you lose potency; too late, and THC starts converting into CBN, giving a heavier, sleepier effect. Cloudy trichomes deliver a balanced high — euphoric yet grounding — capturing the essence of the strain in its full potential. ⸻ 🌸 Aroma, Taste & Effects The Lava Cake lives up to her name and lineage.
