🌿 Lava Cake – Week 5 (First Week Flower) | Pre-Bloom & Heat Talk 🌿 The Lava Cakes have officially stepped into their flowering tent… though, to be fair, they’re still enjoying a little extra veg time before showing pistils. Both phenos are healthy, lush, and stretching beautifully, clearly ready for the show ahead. ⸻ 📸 Photo Studio Glam We took them out for another studio shoot, bright lights, clean background, and every angle showing off their deep greens and perfect branching. Soon, their beauty will be dressed in flowers, but for now, the leaf structure alone is worthy of the spotlight. ⸻ 🌡️ Current Conditions • Room Temp: 31°C • Humidity: 50.3% • VPD: 2.23 kPa • PPFD: 766 µmol/m²/s • Soil EC: ~2.0 • Soil Temp: 25.6°C Yes, the temperature is running hot — AC unit is on the way to lock it back into our ideal zone. ⸻ 💬 Heat in the Grow Room – Risks & Benefits Potential Risks: • Faster substrate drying = more frequent irrigation needed • Higher transpiration rates can stress plants if roots can’t keep up • Slightly increased risk of light stress at high PPFD without proper cooling • Possible reduced terpene retention if sustained into late flower Possible Benefits (short term in veg/pre-flower): • Accelerated metabolism — plants grow and stretch faster • Increased water/nutrient uptake (if well-fed and watered on time) • Can improve CO₂ usage efficiency if levels are high enough Bottom line: As long as they’re hydrated, fed, and ventilated, short bursts of high temp are manageable. But for flowering, we want to keep daytime temps closer to 24–28°C for optimal quality. ⸻ 💧 Watering Strategy We water when the soil dries to about 25% moisture remaining, this encourages: • Stronger root growth searching for water • Better oxygenation of the root zone • Less risk of root rot in warm temps Right now: They’re drinking daily due to the heat, so we’re feeding daily as well. ⸻ Current Feeding (per L of water) • Aptus Regulator – 0.15 ml • Aptus CalMag Boost – 0.25 ml • Aptus All-in-One Liquid – 1 ml • Aptus Top Booster – 0.25 ml With the increased drinking rate, nutrient uptake has increased — meaning no signs of deficiency, just steady lush green. ⸻ 🚀 Looking Ahead • AC installation will stabilize temps, allowing tighter VPD control • First signs of pistils should appear within the next 7–10 days • We’ll begin adjusting feed ratios for early bloom once flowers set • Light intensity will climb further as stretch continues ⸻ 💚 Closing Note: This week is all about momentum, heat or no heat, the Lava Cakes are pushing upward, prepping themselves for a heavy flower load. Hello and welcome to week 8 for the quite amazing Nesia. She is growing as if there were no tomorrow... being the largest plant in the series. Please check last week which is now complete. Day 50: Fertigated 5l. Height: 56cm. Yes you read that correctly. 6cm stretch in 1 day. Oh dear. Also added a couple of carnivorous plants to take care of the odd fungus gnat. Day 51: I've taken a long video and some better photos to demonstrate Nesia's size. She now measures 60cm tall that's another 4cm in a little over 12 hours. 😔 What a plant! Day 52: Lazy day no measurements. Day 53: Fertigated 5l - height 62cm Day 54: Fertigated 5l - height 65cm.- Nesia is already my largest plant. Larger even than her majesty the Queen. She's not done yet. 3cm vertical stretch in 24h. It is Nesia's turn in the middle so I've trimmed all leaves that extended outward. Day 56: Height 72cm. Nesia has continued to stretch and is extremely thirsty. She's taking about 5 litres a day at the moment. I fear she is not finished yet. End of week summary: Nesia has continued to stretch fast and gained 22cm in height this week. She's now putting out a lot of pistils but the stretch hasn't slowed yet.

Hello guys quick update to week 3. I transplanted her in her final pot (11L). Also I’m starting to feed nutes. In this week I didn’t so keep up with next week to look how she developed. She’s starting to grow her 4. Sets of leaves. Also got an light, light burn caused due I accedentely poured water on the leaves. Got to defoliate them later when I'm going to lolipop. Happy growing ! 💚

The spider mites are still here and I can’t seem to get rid of them. Even by removing every last leaf you can find them on they still manage to hide.

Got everything moved around & the new carbon filter, fans & lights so hopefully I got better coverage with less power👍🏼 Topped 1 of the Gelato OGs today was getting way taller than the rest we will see how she bounces back! Everything else seems to be going great! Day 22 topped & trimmed them up a bit Day 23 started LST on a few Day 24 started mainline on one of the GZ Day 25 trimmed them a little more today

As I was planning to harvest this week, I started flushing Mishka with PH 7.5 water and no nutrients as per guidelines.

- Really happy with her recovery this week from the topping and defoliation, she's starting to show some explosive growth. I think I might up the nutrients to full strength next week, does anyone think this might be a bit much of an increase? - Continued with some slight training, just making sure the main branches don't pop back up and that they are pulled down as much as possible to save on height. - Did some minor training of the new shoots towards the end of the week, just trying to pull them into the empty space and even out the canopy a bit. - She also seemed a bit more thirsty this week , up until now iv only been watering one litre once a week, this week I gave her a total of about 3 litres spread over two occasions.

Day 1 soaked seeds for 18hrs. Day 2 seeds in dirt two seeds already popped in water and they where the auto's. Day 3 just keeping them moist and warm. Day 4 Northern lights came up and Great white shark came up. Watch these seeds sometimes the shell doesn't come off and you got to help it Northern lights shell was stuck and I took a tooth pick and helped it get it off. Day 5 Acapulco gold came up still waiting on Yumboldt auto and it had a tail on it when put in dirt.. Day 6 planted another Yumboldt auto seed directly in soil the other one was bad. So this one will be 6days behind others.

I'm going to give her the chop sometime this week. Giving her one final watering today, then I'm going to let her dry out til harvest. She smells fucking awesome, super aromatic. It's quite obnoxious not being able to find anything on this strain. But I'll try and describe what she's like. For one, I'd say that once you've got an established plant, it's very painless to grow. I didn't measure waterings or nute feedings. Treated her like a tomato plant basically. The smell is incredible, super fruity with just a hint of skunk... and given the character this strain is named after(💩), let's just say that's a very pleasant surprise 😮 We're in the final stretch of her growth here. I'm not expecting too much yield wise by this point. I want an OZ, so I'm hoping this extra week will get her to chunk up just a bit more. Cheers fellow growers, I would recommend other Ethos strains before this one. But if you're accustomed to their Genetics, this is definitely worth copping for the experience. Really excited to see how she smokes! 🤑😎 Update 10/28/21: Something made me decide to give her a flush and maybe a week or two of extra time. I think she'll start doing the purple fade thingy, as I see purple on some of the tips of calyxes and sugar leaves. I hope for one crop like this every year.. Flushed her yesterday and took the updated pictures(the ones in the dark) today. Looks like she REALLY put on some weight between yesterday and today. I mean I had to stake her up, that's how chunky she's getting. The stems and branches look like they're on the brink of snapping 😳 Looking back, I don't think I've had a plant get this chunky by this point in flower. Makes me super excited I have more beans of this stuff. I may end up leaving a lower branch to chuck her into the veg tent post-harvest, I'm seriously that in love with this strain.

I’ve increased the nutrients to BioBizz Grow (3ml), BioBizz Bloom (2ml), and BioBizz TopMax (1.5ml). The plants are growing well and have recovered from the calcium deficiency. 🍃💪 I’m continuing to add a bit of BioBizz CalMag to prevent any future deficiencies. 🌱✨ This week, I also added some soil to the pots, as the soil level had flattened out quite a bit. I topped up each pot with about 1.5 liters of soil.
