Purple Kush DWC SCROG LED Cabinet Grow

Blazar This grow consists of 3 Purple Kush seeds from MSNL. I'm so happy to be growing this strain, it is one of my favorites of all time and from what I have read, MSNL carry the true old-school genetic line of it. I cant wait to try it and see can I grow a decent example of it. It is a small custom built cabinet, with roughly 1m x 0.5m x 1.5m dimensions It contains a 6 site 50L DWC, in a custom built insulated cooler. I'm running 6 airstones off of a 40L/min air pump. I will be keeping the cooler temps between 19-22C with water changes roughly every 10 days depending on how the pH and PPM's are holding up. For ventilation, I have a 125mm (5in) extractor fan. I'm also using 200w LED and planning to run a SCROG screen set 20cm (8in) above the cooler. I'm hoping, because I'm not growing autos, I can improve on my last yield and quality. I've also improved on a lot of other things that should improve this grow over the last. I usually run lucas formula (FloraMicro + Florabloom in a 1:2 ratio) and fully sterile with H2O2. For this grow I want to try some beneficial bacteria and enzymes to see I can get away with using H2O2 daily. I'll run the Flora series along with the other additives and leave the H2O2 out. I'm very interested to see how the Orca supplement works out, I've read some really good reviews of it. I germinated 3 seeds between paper towels. Within 48 hours they were ready to transplant to root riot cubes. Within another 3-4 days, 2 of them where transplanted to the DWC tub, 1 didn't survive so I had to germinate a 3rd seed, which is lagging a bit behind the first 2 but has been transplanted to a cube, just waiting on it to break the surface. The light is at 50% intensity and set very high above the seedlings. Updates: Day 11 (from seed): Roots now showing out of the net pot, for the first 2 seedlings and the 3rd one finally broke free from the seed and there is a visible taproot, it will hopefully go into the dwc tub in 1-2days. Day 12 (from seed): Plant 3 added to the DWC tub, first set of true leaves showing and a nice long taproot. I also lowered the light a small bit and turned up the intensity to 65%. I turned on 1 of the oscillating fans on very low speed.

Blazar Roots are starting to form on 2 of the plants, I will raise the ppm's soon when they start to feed more. No roots on the 3rd plant yet. I raised the light intensity to 100% as they seem to be handling it ok. Temperatures are starting to raise also which is good.

Blazar They seem to be coming along ok, maybe a little slow. I had to deal with some high temperatures for a few days in the mid 30C's , I think that slightly stunted growth, I have that in order now with the AC vent fixed, it was venting most of the hot air back in the room 😲 lol. The Orca seems to be working, there is nice white roots. Plants 1 and 2 topped this week, plant 3 is still catching up, should be ready for topping next week

Blazar They are growing nicely, recovering from topping and high heat and the speed of growth is picking up. Nice green growth and the roots are looking great too. I also topped plant 3 this week. The plants are feeding a lot at the moment and I have to keep raising the PPM's.

Blazar Things are progressing along ok. Dealing with another heatwave at the moment, but I can keep the grow environment below 24C (75F) with the cabinet door closed. The plants have stopped growing laterally and have more vertical growth, finally. I added the SCROG screen a few days ago and its already filling in nicely, I can hopefully flip to 12-12 within 3 weeks. The plants are drinking a lot, roughly 10 liters of water every 3 days. PH is holding rock steady and the roots look great.

Blazar There's been lots of growth in the last week. I reckon I can flip to flowering period within 1 week. I have snapped a few stalks and taped them back up, I hope they survive. I am defoliating the large undergrowth, leaf's that are receiving no light and some are already shriveled up, a couple of leaf's a day. I will do a more thorough defoliation when I flip to 12-12. Temperatures have dropped, now to around 24C directly under the light with the door closed and 18C when the light is off. There is some slight tip burn on one of the plants, probably due to low humidity from the AC, I have lowered the PPM's and moved the AC. Plants are drinking about 11litres of solution every 4 days. I have been able to move the light down some more too to 51cm from canopy to light, closer to the optimal zone of around 31cm and the intensity is at 75%, Temperatures will be dropping soon so that will help going into flower. The plants are quite overcrowded now as it is a small space, but I will resolve that over the next 3 weeks (1 of veg, 2 of pre flower) by stripping out un-need growth. I am aiming to be fully completed in early November, giving about 70 days 12-12 and 1 more week 18-6.

Blazar Flowering started on 23/08/25. I'm getting some slight odor when I perform the daily tucking/training. I did a large defoliation below the screen (mainly dead leafs and new shoots), a few days ago and I will do a final one next week. The plants are coming along nicely, roots are still really healthy and I haven't used any H2O2 😀 (thanks Orca and Cannazym). Temperatures have stabilized, though I still have to run the AC, if I leave it off the temperatures jump to 26-27C during lights on... the joys of growing in a cabinet. The canopy is nice and even. I am still training the plants horizontally for the next few days. The screen is nearly 100% filled. This will leave 1 week of additional vertical stretch. After that stage all stretching should be complete. I broke 3 tops, all but one recovered, I'll have to be a bit more gentle the next time lol 😂. I have lowered the PPM's to 650-700, as the plants didn't like 850, the PPM's slowly crept up to 900, with slight leaf tip burn. Strange because I thought with the usage of Orca, the lowering temperatures and the issues fixed from previous grows, they would feed more, but up to 850 is the usual max PPM's I get to (that's using the ppm meter at 700 mode). The PH probe went out of calibration and the PH went down to 5.2 for a few days. It didn't seem to cause any negative effects. Plants are still drinking about 10L per 2-3 days. I can't wait to see some flowers growing.

Blazar Everything is ticking along nicely. Plants are still stretching about 1-2 cm's a day. Some yellowing of the new top growth. I think I have narrowed it down to a Sulphur deficiency, so I fed some Epsom today. I will start using Epsom now instead of the calmag every res change and top up. I will wait a week and see if there is any improvement. I have stopped doing any training. I did another big defoliation last week. I will probably thin the canopy a bit more in 1-2 weeks as it is quite crowded. Temperatures are stable now, no AC needed. Ph and ppm's are stable also Plants are drinking about 4 liters every 2 days.

Blazar Plants are eating more now, I was able to raise the PPM's past 900 and they are steady, I'm trying to let the PH drift between 5.5-5.9 to make sure all elements can be absorbed. I still have lime green new growth, but it doesn't seem to be spreading, so I'm not too worried. Tops are now visible with flowers starting to form. The odour has reduced in the last week, its practically zero now. The roots are still in great condition, nice and white and a pleasant odour. They are 19 days into flower and still stretching a small bit, hopefully not much more as I have very little vertical space left. I have fully defoliated below the screen now, I only remove a few leaves here and there now. As this is my first SCROG grow, I am not sure should I thin out the top a bit or leave it to nature now? I had to turn the heater on in the last few days as low temps where causing high humidity (70%), I can get it down to early 60's now.

Blazar Day 26 of flowering and the plants are still stretching 😟. I really hope they stop stretching soon. I have maxxed out the vertical space, so I can't move the light up anymore. I'm careful to check for light stress now, as all I can do is lower the light intensity which is at 95% currently. I am surprised they are still stretching now approaching the end of week 4. I'm planning for a maximum of 7 weeks remaining Either way, the plants are coming along nicely. Still nice green growth and healthy roots. I am now dialing back the Calmag/Epsom/Nitrogen and increasing the Bloom nutes. PH and PPM's are stable and temperatures have been quite steady. I am now changing the res every 7 days. I did a ton of defoliation in the last week and I'm still pulling a few leaves everyday to open the canopy a bit (and removing any causing wet patches), to get some airflow through it. The entire lower portion is stripped now. One thing I learned from this grow is that I need to secure the screen better as the plants have pushed it well past the original height of 20cm, I also need to weave the plants through the screen better. I was tucking under the screen each time to get an even canopy. Next time I will weave the stems through the screen and flip to 12-12 sooner, I hadn't planned on the amount of stretch with a pure Indica Kush strain. A good learning experience. You can visibly see the buds forming now, by my count there is 30 tops visible.
